Statement from the Bank of Slovenia 6.10.2008
The governments and other competent institutions in a number of European countries are taking coordinated measures to maintain financial stability. In this regard, consultations are also being held within the European institutional framework. The ECB plays a central role in the Eurosystem. The Bank of Slovenia continuously monitors developments on international financial markets and analyses their possible effects on the Slovenian banking system. It is in constant contact with representatives of the Slovenian government with regard to maintaining financial stability. The Slovenian banking system is functioning smoothly, and has not yet felt any significant effects from the developments in the global and European environments. The deposits and savings of all natural persons are safe. Within the framework of the ESCB, the Bank of Slovenia will provide banks with the necessary liquidity from those instruments available in the system.
