Medals of Banka Slovenije
On special occasions, Banka Slovenije issues medals, which are also prized among numismatic enthusiasts. In contrast to commemorative and collector coins, the medals are not legal tender and have an exclusively numismatic value. To date Banka Slovenije has issued three medals, marking the 10th anniversary of the tolar and on the 20th and 30th anniversaries of the founding of Banka Slovenije. As part of the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of Banka Slovenije, we will be making available special sets of medals containing gold and silver medals marking the 20th and 30th anniversaries of Banka Slovenije (altogether four medals).
Medals on the 30th anniversary of Banka Slovenije
On its 30th anniversary, Banka Slovenije is issuing gold and silver medals. The design of the medals uses points as the central artistic element to depict the co-dependence of the country and central bank. Thirty points are arranged in the form of a square with the inscription ‘Banka Slovenije’ on the front side, while points are arranged on the reverse side to form the geographical shape of Slovenia. The points of the front side represent Banka Slovenije’s growth from its establishment to the present day, while the size of the points on the reverse side reflect Slovenia’s population density.
