Press release from the meeting of the Governing Board of the Bank of Slovenia on 26 January 2009
At today’s meeting the Governing Board of the Bank of Slovenia discussed the application of Dr Draško Veselinovič for authorisation to hold office as a member of NLB d.d.'s management board. A decision regarding the issue of the aforementioned authorisation was adopted by a majority of votes.
The Governing Board of the Bank of Slovenia has determined that the procedure to select a new president of the bank's management board was not initiated in a timely manner, nor was it carried out properly, as it did not provide other candidates the appropriate level of confidentiality that would enable them to apply for the aforementioned function. Timeliness and confidentiality in the procedure would provide for a more substantive assessment of proposals. In the current economic conditions, the management of Slovenia's largest bank requires an experienced and committed individual, without any burdens that might affect his or her work. The Governing Board of the Bank of Slovenia expects the bank's owners to make a decision as soon as possible regarding changes and additions to membership in the management and supervisory boards that will ensure the competent and effective supervision of the bank by its management and owners.
