Deputy-Governor Primož Dolenc takes the position of acting Governor of Banka Slovenije tomorrow

Today sees the end of the term of office of Boštjan Vasle, the fifth Governor of Banka Slovenije. Until a new governor takes office, the running of the central bank will be taken over by Deputy-Governor Primož Dolenc, beginning tomorrow.

In line with legislation, Mr Dolenc takes over the leadership of Banka Slovenije and the Governing Board. In keeping with the ECB’s established practice, and in accordance with its Rules of Procedure, the Banka Slovenije representative will be invited to attend meetings of the Governing Council of the ECB, but will not have voting rights when decisions are being made in the area of monetary policy.

At Banka Slovenije our hope is that the issue of appointing a new governor will be resolved at the earliest possible juncture, as our full involvement in monetary policy decisions is of huge importance to the country.
