Banka Slovenije’s Mala Galerija stages exhibition Heading Nowhere from Nowhere
Banka Slovenije’s Mala Galerija exhibition space has opened a show entitled Heading Nowhere from Nowhere, which is devoted to Bogdan Borčić (1926-2014), undoubtedly one of the most prominent painters and graphic artists of the second half of the 20th century in Slovenia, and a recipient of the Prešeren Prize for his lifetime achievement. The exhibition has been staged in collaboration with the Koroška Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Slovenj Gradec. The exhibition is open to the public until 1 October 2024.
At yesterday’s opening, guests were addressed by Boštjan Vasle, Governor of Banka Slovenije, and Petra Čeh, Director of the Koroška Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Bogdan Borčić (1926-2014) was undoubtedly one of Slovenia’s most important painters and graphic artists of the second half of the 20th century, with an extensive body of work. The collection of works by Borčić showcase an artist whose interests extended into the most diverse fields of art. The Koroška Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (KGLU) is today home to a collection of almost 400 of his works, including the works exhibited at the Mala Galerija.
The exhibition is open to the public until 1 October 2024, from Tuesday to Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm. Guided tours for the public will be given on Wednesday 11 September at 5 pm and on Tuesday 1 October at 5 pm.
The exhibition Heading Nowhere from Nowhere is the fifth in succession organised independently by the bank. Other exhibitions are presented in cooperation with the University of Ljubljana, and feature artists and creatives from various schools within the University of Ljubljana who work in fine art, sculpture, photography, design, textiles, architecture and landscape architecture, music, computer tech and acting. In this way we have revived a long-standing tradition, and have restored the exhibition room, named Mala Galerija in 1952, to its original purpose.
