Regular consultations with the IMF mission begin
In accordance with Article IV of the IMF’s Articles of Agreement, regular consultations with the IMF mission will be held until 30 January 2024. Their preliminary findings will be presented at the conclusion of the mission.
The purpose of these consultations is to review the latest economic developments, the functioning of the financial sector and the banking system. They will also focus on the key drivers of growth, determining the limit of productivity in individual sectors of the economy and developments in the labour market. Other notable priorities in this year’s consultations are the mitigation of the risks associated with climate change, as well as the outlook on Slovenia’s future challenges. Based on conversations with all the institutions involved, a report will be drawn up for Slovenia over the following months giving the IMF’s views and recommendations regarding sound financial, fiscal and structural policies for the country.
During the consultations, Donal McGettigan, the mission chief for Slovenia, and the other team members Rossen Alexandrov Rozenov, Magali Pinat, Saioa Armendariz and Dmitriy Kovtun will meet representatives of Banka Slovenije, the Ministry of Finance, other ministries, the IMAD, the Fiscal Council, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Employers Association’, the Slovenian-German Chamber of Commerce, the PDII, the National Assembly, the Bank Association of Slovenia, and selected commercial banks and trade unions, and will also meet representatives of the insurance sector.
Mr McGettigan will present the preliminary end-of-mission findings together with Klemen Boštjančič, the finance minister, and Boštjan Vasle, Governor of Banka Slovenije, at a press conference held at 13.30 pm on 30 January 2024 at the premises of Banka Slovenije.
