Eurosystem begins stress tests for significant institutions
This year the ECB is again conducting stress tests for the 99 significant banks under its direct supervision. These banks account for around 75% of the Eurosystem’s banking assets. The stress tests will use a bottom-up approach.
At the same time, in line with legislation and the practice established in previous years, Banka Slovenije will also conduct simplified bottom-up stress tests for less significant banks and savings banks, the subsidiary banks under majority foreign ownership, and SID banka.
All the stress tests will be conducted in line with the methodology of the European Banking Authority (EBA) and the scenarios drawn up by the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB). The ECB exercise is beginning today, and Banka Slovenije will begin its own exercise in March. The results will be released in late July.
