Press release -Spring Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group - 11 April 2014
The Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group will take place in Washington, D.C. from 11 to 13 April 2014.
In the role of Deputy Governor of the IMF's Board of Governors, Vice Governor Darko Bohnec will attend the meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC). The IMFC meets twice a year, at the Spring Meetings and during the IMF-WB Annual Meetings. The IMFC has 24 members who are central bank governors, ministers, or others of comparable rank. The introductory and plenary session are attended by governors of the IMFC and governors of the other IMF's member countries (188). The group is currently chaired by Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance of Singapore, who was selected to head the Committee in March 2011. The IMFC will discuss the current developments in the global economy and on the international financial markets, forecasts of future developments and possible policy responses. The programme also includes discussions regarding the IMF’s Global Policy Agenda.
In Washington, Vice Governor Bohnec will also attend a number of bilateral meetings with representatives of the IMF. The meetings will be held with the representatives of the European Department, with Mr. Reza Moghadam, Director of the EU Department, Ms. Daria Zakharova, IMF's Chief Mission for Slovenia. Vice Governor Bohnec will attend the meeting of the Central and Eastern European IMF Constituency, member of which is also Slovenia, and will separately meet Mr. Johann Prader, Executive Director of the constituency. At the IMF's management level the meeting will be held with Mr. David Lipton, Deputy Managing Director of the IMF.
On the margins of Spring Meetings various expert seminars and conferences are taking place as well. Vice Governor Bohnec will attend the conference on "Monetary Policy in the New Normal".
