Common commemorative coin of euro area countries marking the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus programme on sale in July
On 1 July 2022 Banka Slovenije will release for sale and circulation the Slovenian issuing of the common commemorative coin of all countries of the euro area issued to mark the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus student exchange programme. This will be the third theme of the special coins issued this year. This time the commemorative coins will be freely available for purchase at the usual points of sale. For those who have already placed orders for these coins, the ordered quantities have been reserved and will be available for collection from 1 to 14 July 2022.
Banka Slovenije should highlight that commemorative coins are legal tender in all countries of the euro area, at face value.
The main motif of the commemorative coin issued on the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus programme is the likeness of Desiderius Erasmus, and the connections between points below the stars on the periphery of the coin, representing the exchange of ideas among European students and countries. The artwork for the coins was designed by Joaquin Jimenez of the French mint Monnaie de Paris. The coins were minted at UAB Lietuvos Monetų Kalykla in Lithuania.

- 2,500 coins in proof quality, packed separately in plastic capsules, priced at EUR 16.
Commemorative coins that have not been reserved in advance as part of the orders for numismatic products for 2022 published at the beginning of the year, will be freely available for purchase starting on 1 July 2022 at the Banka Slovenije counters, at selected branches of Deželna banka Slovenije and at Moro & Kunst. For those who ordered the coins as part of the orders for numismatic products for 2022, the ordered quantities will be available for collection up until 14 July. Those who have placed orders will be notified of the options for collection.
This will be the third theme of the special coins issued this year. In March we issued a commemorative coin marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of architect Jože Plečnik and collector coins marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of painter Matija Jama.
