Article IV consultations with the IMF mission begin
Today sees Slovenia embark on its regular consultation with the IMF under Article IV of the IMF’s Articles of Agreement. On this occasion, it will be conducted virtually, and is scheduled to finish by 19 March 2021. The preliminary findings will be presented at the conclusion.
The purpose of these consultations is to review the latest economic developments, the evolution and economic impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the functioning of the financial sector and banking system, and challenges for the future. Based on conversations with all the institutions involved, a report will be drawn up for Slovenia over the following months giving the IMF’s views and recommendations regarding sound financial, fiscal and structural policies for the country.
During the consultations, Bernadin Akitoby, the mission chief, and the other team members Michelle Hassine and Rossen Rozenov will meet representatives of Banka Slovenije, the Ministry of Finance, other ministries, the IMAD, the Fiscal Council, the BAMC, the Slovenian-German Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Association of Employers of Slovenia, the PDII, the National Assembly, the Bank Association of Slovenia, and selected commercial banks and trade unions, and will also meet representatives of firms in the tourism sector.
Mr Akitoby will present the mission’s preliminary findings at an end-of-mission virtual press conference at 4 pm on 19 March 2021. Participants can register online here.
