Public notice of the sale of medals marking the 20th and 30th anniversaries of Banka Slovenije

All those interested in purchasing sets of gold and silver medals of Banka Slovenije (referred to below as: BS) minted in 2011 and 2021 (on the 20th and 30th anniversaries of BS), and individual silver medals minted in 2011 (on the 20th anniversary of BS) are hereby notified that on the 4th of October 2021 BS will begin collecting applications for their purchase.

We envisage the sale of 60 sets of medals (2 gold and 2 silver medals issued on the 20th and 30th anniversaries of BS) at the fixed price of EUR 1,500 per set (VAT included), and 250 individual silver medals minted to mark the 20th anniversary of BS at the fixed price of EUR 70 per piece (VAT included). The sets of medals are packed in wooden boxes and comprise four medals in plastic capsules and the pertaining certificates: gold and silver medals – both minted on the 20th anniversary of BS (2011), and gold and silver medals – both minted on the 30th anniversary of BS (2021). The individual silver medals will also be packed in plastic capsules and in wooden packing with the pertaining certificates.

The gold medals minted on the 20th anniversary of BS will be on sale exclusively in the sets of medals, while individual gold and silver medals minted on the 30th anniversary of BS will also be on regular sale at the BS counter and via the sales agent of Moro & Kunst d.o.o. Ljubljana, and they are not subject to the Conditions for the Sale of Gold and Silver Medals on the 20th and 30th anniversaries of BS.

Based on the assessment that there will not be sufficient gold and silver medals for all interested buyers, the sets of medals and individual silver medals will be available for sale at a fixed price determined by BS and subject to a buyer lottery. Buyers drawn in the lottery will be able to purchase a maximum of one set of medals or one individual silver medal. Payment and delivery of medals will be conducted exclusively at the BS counter.

The application period for purchase is thirty-one (31) days, from the 4th of October 2021 to the 3rd of November 2021. The lottery will be held on the 8th of November 2021. Collection of items acquired through the lottery will be possible only in person at the BS counter at Štefanova ulica 1 in Ljubljana within thirty (30) days from receiving notification of the lottery.

Silver medals (in the sets and individually) are subject to oxidation, so in time their surface darkens and they acquire changes on the surface which are usually visible in various shades of brown. This is an inevitable natural phenomenon that results from the contact of silver with the air and moisture. These surface changes advance more prominently with time. For this reason, the changes that arise due to oxidation on the silver medals do not represent any legal basis for a material fault in the purchased items. BS accepts no liability for the described consequences on the surface of the silver medals, and due to the stated surface changes buyers may not exchange collected medals for non-oxidised medals, demand a price reduction or claim a refund in the context of cancellation of their agreement.
