Results of tender for designing drafts of occasional coins to be issued in 2021

In the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 04/20 the government of the Republic of Slovenia published a Decree determining to mark the following events by issuing occasional coins in 2021:

  • €2 commemorative coin to mark 200th anniversary of the establishment of Provincial Museum for Carniola, the first museum in Slovenia and
  • collector coins to mark 300th anniversary of Škofjeloški pasijon (Processio locopolitana).

Banka Slovenije published a tender for designing drafts of occasional coins to be issued in 2021 on June 5 2020. The tender was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 82/20 and on the Banka Slovenije's web page. By the end of the tender on July 13 2020 we received 31 drafts for €2 commemorative coin and 17 drafts for collector coins.

On the proposal of the Commission for issuing occasional coins, established by the Banka Slovenije and Ministry of finance, the Government of Slovenia decided to award the following drafts for designing €2 commemorative coin:

  1. prize (€3.000) for draft with code N611U2023 – author: Lana Semečnik;
  2. prize (€1.500)  for draft with code AN63NA – author: Andrej Žerovnik;
  3. prize (€1.000) for draft with code CPIMU19 – authors: Mojca Mlinar in Dominik Košak.

For collector coins the following drafts are awarded:

  1. prize (€3.000) for draft with code 9754145us – author: Matej Štanta;
  2. prize (€1.500) for draft with code RG989 – author: Matej Ramšak;
  3. prize (€1.000) for draft with code APA041 – authors: Mojca Mlinar in Dominik Košak.

Occasional coins will be minted based on the drafts awarded with first prize.
