Results of tender for designing drafts of occasional coins to be issued in 2020

In the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 04/19 the government of the Republic of Slovenia published a Decree determining to mark the following events by issuing occasional coins in 2020:

  • €2 commemorative coin to mark 500th anniversary of the birth of Adam Bohorič and
  • collector coins to mark 30th anniversary of plebiscite on sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Slovenia.

Banka Slovenije published a tender for designing drafts of occasional coins to be issued in 2020 on April 5 2019. The tender was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 22/19 and on the Banka Slovenije's web page. By the end of the tender on May 12 2019 we received 29 drafts for €2 commemorative coin and 18 drafts for collector coins.


On the proposal of the special Commission for issuing occasional coins, established by the Banka Slovenije and Ministry of finance, the Government of Slovenia decided to award the following drafts for designing €2 commemorative coin:

  1. prize (€3.000) for draft with code VIV623 – author: Lana Semečnik;
  2. prize (€1.500)  for draft with code 19AB707 – authors: Mojca Mlinar and Dominik Košak;
  3. prize (€1.000) for draft with code AdamiB – author: Edi Berk.

For collector coins the following drafts are awarded:

  1. prize (€3.000) for draft with code TUMD – author: Tevž Zrinski;
  2. prize (€1.500) for draft with code slo9020ple – author: Domen Fras;
  3. prize (€1.000) for draft with code 20PB77 – authors: Mojca Mlinar and Dominik Košak.

Occasional coins will be minted based on the drafts awarded with first prize.
